Needle height should be selected with array geometry, material strength, application area, cosmetic use, comfort, dissolution and market classification in mind. It is not a standalone performance number, and a taller needle is not automatically better.
Why height cannot be specified alone
Tip shape, base width, spacing, array density and matrix mechanics determine how the array behaves during demolding, packaging and application. Two arrays with the same nominal height may perform differently if their geometry or material system differs.
Application area and user experience
Under-eye, forehead, nasolabial and localized blemish-care formats have different patch footprints and handling needs. Product development should consider placement accuracy, adhesion, pressure instructions, wear time and consumer comfort as a connected design.
Manufacturing and quality controls
A feasible design must demold consistently, survive packaging and transport, and meet agreed visual or dimensional criteria. Mold capability, shrinkage, humidity and drying conditions can all influence the final array.
A practical briefing method
Tell the manufacturer the application area, desired patch size, benchmark experience, target market and intended cosmetic claims. Request a proposed geometry with rationale and acceptance criteria instead of prescribing height from a competitor listing alone.
